The big boys in Russia are back at it, throwing down over 3000 horsepower between these two giants. The UGR tuned Lamborghini did 251 mph in the Dragtimes Moscow Unlimited, so its a healthy car.  In the video the AMS tuned GT-R hits 224 mph, so it goes OK too. Watch the video below for all the crazy action.

The upgraded Lambo cranks out 1,500 horsepower at the wheels and is utilizing the same Hoosier A6 wheels on which it set the Moscow Unlimited Drag Times record of 251 mph.

Super Light Nissan GT-R in Two Years?

Fast Lane Daily- snowed in edition – is reporting that there will be a super light edition of the Nissan GT-R at the end of its life cycle in two years.

 

Are they talking about a GT-R Evolution? I don't think its likely that the Nissan GT-R will be at the end of its life cycle in two years. The DBA is getting set to release in 2012.  The CBA was sold as a 2009-2011 model.  The previous cars, the R32, R33, R34 GT-R were sold from 1989-2002, with a similar driveline.  I would expect to maybe see something along the lines of the Z34-370Z.  Maybe a little smaller car, a little more displacement. Maybe direct injection?  If they went to direct injection, could we expect to see 560-575 hp?  The 2012 car is going to be rated at 530 hp.  Maybe a 7 speed transmission? 

 

Time Lapse Engine Build : Cobb Time Attack R35

Cobb Tuning has been competing in the Redline Time Attack with their R35 this year. The car runs in the Modified class and won the modified class, and overall at New Jersey Motorsports park, after losing an engine at Buttonwillow.  After Buttonwillow the team replaced the expired engine with one from a wrecked street car.  They had a few issues at New Jersey, but not enough for them not to take the overall win.

At Las Vegas some issues from the wrecked street car engine reared their head, and the team decided to build the engine.  The next round of Redline Time Attack is at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Ca this weekend, May 29-30th.

The Redline Time Attack is going to be covered Live Streaming in a partnership with the guys at Owle. I was browsing some sites yesterday, and saw this neat add on for the iPhone. Its a better lens/microphone/holding system for the iPhone that will give you good quality video for only $129. They will have up to a dozen cameras streaming at the same time, with some of them inside or on cars. John Naderi and Kerryann De La Cruz will also be in the paddock doing live interviews.

Bugatti Veyron vs Nissan GT-R

Heavy weight battle right here. 16 cylinders, 4 turbos, 1001 hp, and all wheel drive vs 6 cylinders, 2 turbos , and 720 hp. Both cars have DSG(dual shaft gearboxes). The Bugatti has 7 gears, the GT-R has 6. Over a million dollars, to $85k stock, probably around $105k modified. Is the Nissan GT-R 1/10th of the car, or is the Veyron 10 times the car ? No matter how you cut it the Bugatti is an amazing car.

St. Petersburg Florida. First lap, in car the Cragar Corvette.  About 18 seconds into the video you see the Brass Monkey Nissan GT-R and the Truspeed Porsche first bump, then the GT-R goes up over the front of the Porsche.

Time Lapse Video : World Challenge Race 2 From the Pits

I mounted the video camera to the golf cart, and did a time lapse from the staging area to the pits, and back to impound for the 2nd TC race of the St. Petersburg weekend. Robert Stout in the #18 Scion tC finished both races in 2nd place. Dan(Don) Gardner #36 Scion tC finished 3rd on Saturday, and 4th on Sunday.

Nissan GT-R's Drag Racing : New Times From Florida

A couple of SSP Equipped R35 Nissan GT-R's were drag racing in Florida yesterday. Getting closer to the elusive 9 second barrier. The black car ran a 10.23 and the white car ran 141 mph.  Fast cars.

Nissan GT-R vs Drift Scion tC’s

Motor Trend picked an interesting set of cars to put up against each other in a single test, an all wheel drive Nissan GT-R , and a couple of rear wheel drive converted Scion tC’s. The Scion’s normally compete in the Formula Drift series. The GT-R, we normally see on the streets.

Check out the video. The Motor Trend videos have really been improving. I like what Ed Loh is doing with the videos he is putting together.
